Thanks Man!! Im at a little over 900 and it seems to run better than when it was set lower. The clutch even seems to not be slipping!! I found out that the clutch was replaced about 5 years ago and about a month after that the truck sat until now. Im hoping that the more I run it the better it will get.PEZi720 wrote:i can't remember for sure what the stock setting is... its either 700 or 800 rpm
i personally prefer 800
Did you check to see if you have the clutch dampener. if you do you should remove it. It only serves as an anti stall device by allowing the clutch to slip a little if its released too aggressively.alientravler wrote:The clutch even seems to not be slipping!!
Your idle mixture could be off. My 510 likes to be idled up around 1000 or it loads up and idles rough.alientravler wrote:

My Haynes book shows it being located attached to the firewall. The base is square. The cylinder itself kind reminds me of a hot glue gun, the way its shaped. Going with that, it would be like the side of the glue gun was attached to a cylinder. It has two lines coming off it on the top side at about 25* to each other and a bleeder screw below it. So, one hose where the glue goes in, one where the handle would be and the bleeder screw where the glue comes out. Dang, I hope that makes sense.
I have a feeling yours may look like mine. I just have the line going down to the slave cylinder (farthest right line).alientravler wrote:

Nah, there are lots of little things that aren't the same. You've got the obvious taillights, grille, marker lights, bumper, and instrument cluster. I've picked up some small things out of the yard (brackets, etc.) only to find out that they were different. I'm assuming it was just things being upgraded as the years progressed. For instance, I like the Nissan shifter better than that big honkin' chrome thing that I had.PEZi720 wrote:pretty sure its not an actual datsun vs. nissan difference... you just don't have the part
A lot of the differences came as upgrades going from datsun to nissan.PEZi720 wrote:pretty sure its not an actual datsun vs. nissan difference.
They are the same company, just regular upgrades like the continual improvement of Silverado's and F-150's.flinterman2000 wrote:

I agree with the higher end models more likely to have them but the datsun came with a flatish black dampner as my brothers 80 KC had but the later 84 had the aluminum molded ones like pezi'smoredunes720 wrote:I think the damper thing on the clutch is mostly found in 4x4 and posssibly the st and upper end models models for more aggressive driving situations as pezi indicated
