Can anyone tell me the fix for "Idle Speed Control"? I just replaced all 3 oxygen sensors on the car and when I went to clear the CEL using the method outlined in the FAQ How To for the 4th gen I30. The CEL cleared but came back on after a couple miles of driving. Using the same "How to" I got the CEL codes and went to use the ECU Decoder (http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecudecoder.html). It's telling me that what was diagnosed previously by my autozone was oxygen sensors and knock sensor that it is now the "Idle Speed Control". Is that a problem with the Idle Air Control Valve or is it something else. The CEL will flash on and off now when I drive after resetting it. And are there any "How To's" on replacing it and is it going to be a huge cost? Something I can do myself? Any help is appreciated.

I have a 1996 Infiniti I30.

Get the specific trouble code so we can help you.

With the engine warmed up, NO LOAD (i.e. AC, headlights, etc. OFF) Idle Speed is 700+/-50 RPM for Automatic (650+/-50RPM for Manual). The ECM, using various engine sensors send pulses to the IACV-AAC stepper motor to control the Idle speed (based on the ECM programmed target speed).

Please check the condition of the harness going to the IACV. You can also check the resistance of the IACV-AAC winding - 30 ohms @ 77 degrees F. Use the attached link for additional info - http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/i30/1996_I30/ec.pdf
