My 240 is acting up! RPM's are going a little too high. MAF is clean, new O2 sensor, I heard about the IACV and clean it but that valve is back there and it seems a little hard to get too. Is there any other way around to fix this issue?

Did you still need help or did you figure it out? If you still need some help could you let us know what year and model you have? What engine are you running and have you done any modifications to it in general and have you changed anything recently?

Have you searched for a vacuum leak first or other cause? Did you do anything to the car when it started idling high?

Ok so this is a hatchback 93 stock with a few here and there as far as air intake msd no mayor things. I just had new headers installed, Then the EGR tube top one installed a new one as well. I replaced new injectors, I did a compression check and is like new 179 on all 4 cylinders so is not a blown gasket issue or seal. Also a fuel pressure check was done and it holds at 36sh then after a while down to 10 which is normal. It sounds like there's an air leak in between the engine and the firewall but I check and everything looks good. Today I cleaned my maf also the throttle intake and ordered a new 02 sensor which I will start after installing and see how it goes. It also has brand new spark Plugs. weird because it starts good and I took it for a little spin and it runs good is just that it idles a little bit then it grabs strong and goes. I will check my injectors again for any leak, I will also check if I'm getting any code in the ECU. These cars a stubborn for real! :) I will not mess around with the IAVC is very hard to work around that area but is something around there if it comes to it I rather have someone do it and get a new one if thats the case..

Exactly what Nuke said. If you don't have a compressor or anything else laying around, you can spray brake cleaner in small areas to try and isolate a leak. If you spray in a particular area and the idle settles for a bit, the leak is in that general area. It may not identify exactly where its at, but you can rule out components like an intake manifold leak.

Can you link a video or something? More information would be greatly beneficial.

Yep, I was thinking the same thing. Starting fluid or even that MAF cleaner works as well. Should hear a change in RPM when you get to the leak.
Just... you know... stay away from the hot exhaust haha.

Or pony up and remove the IACV and clean/replace it.

So i got down to 1000 - 1100 from 1500 and over. I closed almost all the way in the IACV screw and moved the distributor a bit to slow it down as well. Almost there! I also hear like The Lower EGR sounds like a lawnmower, bad egr box? It connects from the Lower Egr Tube to the Headers and then to the Black Box canister on driver side. I know that I have a leak downstream after my headers in between Headers and Cat. That's another issue. Anything else Im missing? Oh I checked the throttle cable and is adjusted properly. No other screws to play around with? :) Still gotta do that leak test.
