Guys,

Can you share your idle RPMs? especially for 2006/2007 M35 models.

Mine used to be below 1K (if not mistaken) - after my SES light (with TPS code, SES light is gone now), today it showed idle RPM a little over 1K.

Appreciate if you can share.

I believe it should be around 550-650. Maybe you need to 're-learn' your idle. This happens whenever the restrictor plate comes off. When you put it back, the engine has to be taught again where to idle at, if that makes any sense.

From a cold start my M idled around 1100 then would drop as the car warmed up. I also noticed a distinct amount fumes from the rear of the car. Long story I seafoamed exhaust manifold today and the loud fumes went away and the idle is around 650 maybe a little more but definitely under 1k. You may want to check for small leaks in the vacuum line and manifold either could cause a high idle.

At first startup when cold it will be higher, but warm idle is supposed to be 650rpm

Ok thanks for the input. I was getting concerned about the fumes and idle, thinking they related.

I have the fumes coming out of the exhaust for a few seconds right after a cold start. It is definitely not condensation. Pure white fumes with a distinct smell for about 5-10 seconds when the is started cold. It is not burning any oil, nor do I have any increase in idle temperature when the car is warm, so your issues might not be related.
