I would like to do an idle relearn on my 01 Qx4. I have a brand new MAF sensor and a new cold air intake pipe and K&N filter that Im sure will make a difference in my idle and Id like to do it properly from the start.

What I dont get is how do you know if it takes or not, the idle relearn mentions nothing of CEL's blinking or anything.

Its also cold as HELL out right now, according to my aftermarket temp gauge, my car doesnt get over 150 and they say the range is in the 150-210 region. Im also unsure of my PCV valves condition... if that makes a difference , but they list it as a requirement

How would you go about this? Id like to get a nice idle, as of right now, my car needs a bit of gas for 1 second right on startup or it dies, hoping the MAF fixes that

For your '01 it's a different process than the CEL method I posted up. You need to follow the procedure starting on EC-57 in this document. The actual process starts on EC-58. If everything is operating as it should, you should have a steady idle exactly at 750 RPM's.

I recently did it with my '04, after cleaning the throttle body and having the idle speed jump to 1200RPM. The process to initiate the re-learning is very different between the '01 and '04, but once it's started I assume it'll behave the same. After going through a convoluted process, the tachometer hunted around at idle until, after maybe 15-20 seconds, it settled down at 750RPM and didn't move from there. A few revs up and letting it come back to idle confirmed that it had learnt to idle at 750RPM.

If your idle speed is already 750RPM, though, I'm not sure how you'd be able to tell that it's re-learning. But then again, if it's already at 750RPM, why would you need to do this in the first place? In the flowchart on page EC-45, it shows that you should only need to do idle speed relearning if the idle speed isn't right. Makes sense. :P

Oh I didnt even know this relearn was only to set the rpm speed. I thought it relearned how much air or something it was intaking at idle. Hence the name idle air volume relearn lol

I did try that test Pwnin, but I have no idea if it took or anything because I dont think my car can get up to those temps, and Im unsure of my pcv's condition.

I figured the check engine light would blink as you were doing the process or something...

If the CEL is ever blinking, you're having a bad day.

The computer will relearn everything on its own; it doesn't need your help. :)
