ok ive posted this before but no viable responses. im replacing my crank pulley soon, and when i do this, i will not be putting my a/c belt back on, and maybe the p/s belt too, and i might even pull the compressor while im at it. my question is where is my freaking water pump? is it connected to the fan pulley? and CAN i just not put those belts on, or do i have to do something with the idle pulleys too?

waterpump and alternator are on the same belt. The a/c and p/s have seperate belts. Your waterpump is connected ot the fan. You NEED that belt.

Get the AC system pumped out first. The R-12 is worth some cash so probably most shops would do it for free.

just to bring some closure to this topic for info purposes, i took a knife and cut the a/c belt with no consequences, and i guess that means you could do the same with the p/s belt too. i havent removed the compressor yet though.
