All right, i used to have this problem very rarely but now its occuring more often and its a real pain, this is what happens, i would be driving normally and then for example i would come to a stop and I would put it in gear and while holding down the clutch as im rolling to a stop, about to downshift to slow down, the rpms drop under 1000 and then my car just shuts off, unless i raise the clutch like im downshifting and i save it from turning off. Or even if i put it in neutral while going to the stop and start braking it sometimes just drops under 1000 and turns off. The only way ive worked around this is by giving it some gas while the rpms are dropping, or for some reason tapping the brakes, keeps it on. The car drops under 1000 and almost turns off like from no gas being given most of the time, What is the problem??

Sounds like a sensor or idle control vavle. What year is your 240sx? Maybe even be the ecu.

I'd check the AIV valve. It's on the driver's side of the engine bay with a vaccuum line that goes to the intake before the MAFS. It's silver and right in between the power steering oil reservoir and the brake master cylinder. Take it apart and clean everything with degreaser or carb cleaner and a wire brush or something similar. I had that problem as well a couple years ago with the same symptoms. You may need to order new reed valves if they aren't fixeable.

Just raise the Idle on the IAA/IAV
