Many things can cause the shaky Idle.
But the first thing/cheapest is to run a bottle of redline SL1 through a half full tank of gas.
It will clean up the gunk you may have on your injectors.

You might call around the parts stores there.
Some peeps in other states claim Napa and Autozone carry it.
But they don't here in the DFW area.

Do the coil pack disconnect/reconnect test, noting any non-changes in idle speed/smoothness. Ohm check all six injectors or just the problem one(s).

How many miles on the engine?

Wouldn't a misfire throw a ECU code ?
As in a coil or plug failing ??

Maybe...Maybe not.

Coils, plugs, and injectors. The three most vulnerable links. Although Cam Position sensors can screw up a normally great running Q. They are more expensive though and people typically tend to figure they are in good shape.

A really bad injector should trigger the CEL, but doing the disconnect/reconnect test should at least identify the problem cylinder that's causing a rough idle, and even an engine with a completely failed injector will feel pretty smooth at higher rpms.

I made the mistake of disassembling my CPS to replace a dry squeaky sealed bearing inside. Bent the laser cut disc inside all to heck, but straigthened it enough to make the car run just fine. Now I know how to take one apart and put it back together without bending the disc. There's not a lot inside.

If there is an open or short in one of the injectors the car will let you know. I have seen them stick open to the point of hydrolocking the cylinder and have perfect resistance value. Actually the injector was only found when my compression gauge filled with fuel from a disconnected injector.

I too have disassembled a CPS, but the one I had wasn't mine :gapteeth: I really wanted to see what warrants the price...the answer is nothing really.
It's painfully simple but so very crucial to the running of all of our cars.
