Hey hopefully i can get some help with this. I just got my car started today after taking the egr out and putting a new exhaust on it. When i was putting the egr block off plate on i snapped a bolt and am currently only using 2 to hold the block off plate in with a gasket, its a snug fit and i didn't think i could have a leak so i left it for now. When i took out the egr i also took out the aiv/pair system and i have since blocked off 2 hoses running to the aiv/pair and 2 hoses running to the egr.
When i started the car it idled at 1500 cause it was cold which i figured isn't a problem. After i started the car and left it to idle for about 3 minutes the idle would climb to 2k as if i pushed the gas then drop back to 1500 and continuously do that until i shut the car off about 2 minutes later. I'm pretty sure all the vacuums are blocked off, but would where the egr was have a vacuum? could it be leaking because of the broken bolt? if it has a vacuum at idle then that's more then likely the problem and ill easy-out the bolt and put a new one in, but if it doesn't have a vacuum its not my main concern atm. also i read that it could be the cts (coolant temp sensor) how would i be able to test that? and lastly i read it could be the iacv, it hasn't been on the road for about 4 months and when i first had the car about 4 months ago it wasn't idling like that.
ive searched high idle, and similar problems concerning mine, but none seem definite. thanks for any help.
