Idle Problem

The car is a 91 240sx, 5 spd.......when I come to a stop at a red light the idle in my car drops really low at around 200 rpm then it will go back up to normal and keep doing that until I actually step on the gas pedal to increase the rpms. What coule be the problem???

I had the same issue before my rebuild on my ka24de. I changed the TPS sensor and it fixed the issue.

Could be a vacuum leak. Check all vacuum hoses around the intake for leaks and make sure they are all secured tightly.

hey my car falls on its face like that too when coming to a stop but my idle goes up to 1800 rpms i posted about the issue please check it out and let me know what u think

Ok, the car drops idle, and pushes back up when you accelerate right? But only at a stop?

This is caused by a few things. If the car has well over 200k, You may want to replace the fuel pump. Check the fuel pump fuse, if it is blown, the fuel pump is going out.

Also another thing, Clogged Intake/Throttle Body. Get some intake/throttle body cleaner from Autozone or whatever... And spray the bejesus out of that bad boy. This will fix it. Also you can check for fouled plugs, Or maybe you could just do a good tune up, and it'll work fine.

Try to search for posts related to "Rough Idle" or "Idiling" before you post something new, which we've talked about a thousand times over.

hey man i squezed my hose that goes to the iacv and my idle dropped and i tried cleaning it but it didn't help where can i purchase one for a reasonable price oh and does a bad tps cause the car to not wanna pull and stall when i come to a stop

If the fuel pump fuse is blown the car wont start.

My SR20DET does the same thing. I have tried cleaning the throttle body, have no vacuum leaks, have new plugs, checked timing, the only thing i really havent done is check out the TPS and the IACV. I will check those and hopefully get somewhere.

Also check for slight boost leaks, if it is turbo of course. A slight boost leak would also give u a hesitation on acceleration though.

is there any way to check/ test the TPS? and i sound like an idiot but wat is this"IACV" and what can ya do do test and or check that. oh, and where is it????hahaha. im havig the same idle problem.
