okay, I searched. All the problems I found that remotely close to what I am having are all on turbo set-up cars. I have a STOCK 91 ka24de. Here's the problems: (and this only happens like 1 or 2 times a week, so far)

When, I'm coming to a dead stop and I push in the clutch to come to a stop, the cars idle drops from about 800 to 200 and almost stalls out. When I actually STOP it has been droping idle and raising idle. It will go from 200 to 800 back to 200 until I give it some gas and start going.

Problems #2: this has only happened once but it freaked me out. it was RAINING (if that makes a difference) I was at a stop (again) and my car starts going crazy!! it idles up @ 1500 and back to 800 and almost stalls at 100. I gave it a little gas and it stopped. Next light, THE SAME THING!!

What could be cause my car to do this? I have given it a FULL tune- up including (but not limited to): spark plugs, wires, dist. cap, rotor button. The motor was rebuilt about 10K ago. The only problem (my mistake oops) Is that the valve stem seals are not in the correct way. I think it's only 1 or 2 that aren't right.thanks guys!

where's the carbon canister located? can it be replaced or just cleaned? i'm sure it's never been touched, knowing the previous owners personally (my aunt and my mom haha)

Quote »Check the connection to yr MAF (it's right downstream of your air filter box if your intake is stock. You'll see an aluminum "throat" between the filter box and the plastic tube running past the radiator to the throttle body -- you should see a snap in wiring connector running to this. On mine (and apparently on others' 240's too) this has come loose and caused caused mine to idle wildly, up and down from zero to 2000 rpm w/occasional stalls at stoplights... Fiddled with the connector and instantly cleared things up...[/quote]

That last post should probably do it, but if you still want to know its a black plastic cylinder with 2 vaccum hoses going into it. On mine (a '90 KA24E) its almost directly behind the front left headlight.

ooo okay. I know what you're talking about now... I saw that a couple of weeks ago and was wondering what it was called

I'm gonna try all of these when I get a chance. (called into the dealership early)

my 90 s13 did that and it was the head temp sensor, also if any of your injectors are leaking then replace all of them

Also, be sure to clean the IACV located on the lower back of the intake mani. They get carboned up and can cause problems like this one.
