idle problem

1995 240sx se

Jus finished from new head and head gasket. Car has a hard time starting like its not getting fuel.Jus got new pump and the same.(takes about 6 cranks before it idles).After it cranks it sits at 1800 rpm which i think is haigh and takes a good 5 mins or so to lower.Aslo when driving as i come to a stop and put in neutral car revs up to 2000 and then drops to 1000 where it runs.Do u think its my tps or anything else.?

what's the temp gauge reading prior to the idle dropping? 1800 would be correct for a cold start while the thermostat is closed. Have you checked the thermostat? It may be sticking open causing your car to take longer to come up to a normal operating temp. As for the high idle, you might just adjust the idle down a bit and see what that does.

1800 does sound high.. My cold start is around 1300 RPM.

Maybe a leaking intake manifold? You can try spraying the area with carb cleaner and see if that kills your engine. Also, try adjusting IACV idle screw.

Well the intake is not the case.I was told aic today was probaly whats causing that but not sure .Like i said when driving she come down to around 900 idle but when i start to stop it first jumps around from 900 to 200 around 3 times then idles at 900-1000.Remember this car sat for a while i mean 2 yrs or so.
