Whats up everyone..I was wondering if anyone can help me out

I have an 89 fastback and I've been having a minor problem with the engine idle.

I dont know all the factory specs but I would assume that idle should be under 1000 RPM right? maybe 950 or something.

However when Im driving, when I come off the gas the idle stays at around 1100 RPM and it says like that for maybe 60 seconds to a minute and a half before it goes back down to normal.

Also sometimes when I start it, it automatically idles high at about the same..1100 RPM.

Anyone know why its doing that?

Idle speed is supposed to be around 700 when warm.

You say when you come off the gas it stays up. Do you mean when you are coasting to a stop?

When the engine is cold, it idles at around 1000 rpm to warm the engine up faster.
