1986 hardbody (D21) Z24I engine, 150000 milesWhen I start it first thing in the morning or after is has been sitting for awhile the idle drops to about 200 rpms and it hardly runs. I have to give it gas just to keep the rpms up until it warms up. After it warms up, it idles just fine, around 900-1000 rpms. The idle adjustment screw is hardly touching also. I've tried checking everything according to my haynes book but no luck. I only paid 450 dollars for the truck so I can't really complain too much. The idle is the only problem I've had with the truck and its just more annoying then a problem. I will admit she not a beauty just average but she sure does not get the job done.

any helpful suggestions or advise would be appreciated.

The wax pellet is usually the culprit. Its a plunger that pushes out at cold temperatures and physically opens the throttle drum. Also flush out the hoses and the housing.
