Hi, I have a 240 and the car is kind of a project. I have noticed that my 240 always starts up fine runs fine until it gets warm. Then, every 30 sec. or so it drops almost stalling out. It does this three times in 1 to 2 sec intervals. Then, it repeats itself. I'm not sure what to make of it. Please help. All advise would be great. thanks for you time. Eric.

hi, it could very well be your idle air control valve

basically your engine will go from cold > warm > hot (normal running temp)

the iacv changes the amount of air that goes in by reading the coolant temp (per my understanding)

you might need a new one

trouble shooting- No codes

unstable idle:

-hunting - 13. disconnect exhaust gas sensor and monitor change in driveability. if it improves, replace sensor. if not, go to 16.16.enter self-diagnosis mode 11 and monitor exhaust gas sensor operation25.perform power balance test7.check spark plug gap and fouling8. ensure no vacuum leaks in intake system10.check egr control valve operation

-after warm-up-10.25.2.perform appropriate test in injector malfunction diagnostic chart.4.check for spark using spark tester7.1.ensure fuel pressure within spec13.8.3.inspect throttle body ports and valves for deposits, wear or plugging.12. check engine compression17.check ecu harness connector18.try a good known ecu

not sure why aiv or iaa valve is not mentioned.
