Ok, here is the scenario, 1993 240sx se, all stock, Engine no matter if the engine is warm or cold, or if it's a warm day or cold day, the engine high revs at start up , getting worse, now reaching up to 4000rpm at start up, once moving the car will not idle at all, unless i am playing with the gas pedal to manually maintain idle, rough ride (bucking and jerking), now I have replaced the fuel filter, plugs, air filter, removed the AIV valve that was recommended elsewhere on these boards, replaced the MAF, only other problem there is that I know of, is there is a leak on the exhaust manifold where it meets the block, appears to be a blow out of the gasket it is on the cylinder closest to the cab of the car, a repair shop said this "Could" be the problem, and want to charge 250 dollars to replace the gasket, any other ideas, confirmations, experiences??????????

i had the same prblem on my sr. sounds like the IAC idle air control. probobly stuck couse its dirty or the motor is bad. start the car then unplug it, if there are changes in idle its working- try cleaning it. take a can of brake clean and spray in where the idle set screw is. this may help good luck.
