hey all, i just replaced my IACV with a brand new one...now i have a surging idle problem, it hovers around 2000 rpm... thats with the mafs unplugged...with it plugged in it goes up to 2500...

just curious if i should re-remove my intake and change my IACV again... and i went over all my wiring and the mafs wiring checks out.

anyone got any other suggestions?

thanks

sure is, all wiring is well within spec. its not sticking either, cuz as i turn the screw out, the idle will pickup...

when i pinch the main feed hose it slows the idle

Did you check for codes? Also, incorrect timing can cause problems.

How did it idle before you changed the IACV?

Then you should re-trace your steps. It has to have something to do with the IACV replacement. Possibly a air leak between the IAVC and the intake, or intake gaskets themselves.

im thinking thats the plan for tomorrow, i know i tightened shiv down again and it seemed to help a lil bit, im wondring if the actual IACV is leaking around the gasket or around the solenoids'

They're 6mm bolts, so 5-7 ft-lbs. Not much.

i think i just found something, i went to change the gasket, and the IACV has coolant passages, one was blocked by something... could it have a temp sensor in it maybe? or even a coolant reliant cam or something in it? i know the s14's have one in the tb.?

That may have a little to do with it. Make sure the coolant is free flowing through the IACV. And two more things, 1, is the idle screw all the way in? 2, is the brake booster hose connected? Simple stuff, I know, just trying to narrow it down.

i think silviak's nailed it. i changed the gasket at the IACV with the old one, put some anerobic sealer on it, now it idles around 1500, but it came down to 1000 at OT. so im thinkin were good. but it could have been me re-torquing everything again.
