i have a 92 fastback with a sr20det. when i start the car it back fires and idles @ 900rpms. when i drive the car runs fine and the like 3 minutes into the test drive the car starts to hesitate. the car seems to me to be misfiring...i check the spark plugs=good...i want to ohm out the coils, do i take my DMM and test the positive and negative, correct? i also noticed that on the relay box it calls for a 15 amp relay but when i looked it up on MOTOR-ALL DATA it called for a 10 amp relay...which one do i use...do you think the hesitation could be caused by my timing? why wouldn't it happen at the start of my drive? when i checked the timing the notches on the pulley kept moving back and forth...what the heck does that mean?

i need serious help anyone in socal you are more than welcome to come over if you have any spare time...im located in moval, and i can give you some gass money....thanks joe

a multimeter to the coil packs at their + and -. IIRC it should be like 12 or 14 ohms across a coil pack.

Which relay in the relay box you talkin bout?

Hesitation could be caused by off timing. What's it set at? When you're setting time, warm the engine to normal operating temperature, turn off the engine and pull the tps, restart the engine and set the idle to ~800 rpm and then start adjusting the timing from there. 15btdc IIRC.

When was the last time your engine had a tune up?
