My 89 240SX idle creeps up from just below 1000 RPM to 2000 RPM when stopped. If I shift to neutral when driving and coast at normal driving speeds, the idle stays at 1000. I have looked for obvious vacuum hose leaks around the smog things - EGR valve and a couple of others. Is there a better way to find vacuum leaks? Is there a specific smog type device that may have gone bad? I just replaced all 4 injectors. Is there any connection to that repair?

Your injectors go strait into your intake. You could have a vacuum leak around one of your injector seals. Just take a can of throttle body cleaner and spray around the seals if the idle gos up then you've found your leak or for that matter just go ahead and spray everything down to try and find a leak.

i have this same exact problem, but when i stop and the idle creeps up, i usually stomp the gas once quick. this then revs the engine, but once it comes back down it stays right where the idle should be. did you figure out what your problem was? i would be grateful if you told me what you did to fix it

i have the same problem as well and sumtimes when this happens and i try to move the idel drops and sumtimes it turns off my car. also it takes awhile to get the car started. i know that their is no vacume leak, becuse when the weather is hot it starts fine fo i think it has to do with the fuel system. i recently bought a new gas pump and filter. need to still install it but i think its gonna work. also try to use the STP fuel injection cleaner. it helps.

how is a fuel pump and fuel filter going to fix your problem? you guys check to see if your throttle is getting hung up, or your throttle body is gunked up causing the throttle plate to stick open a little? that might be a good place to start looking.
