When I start up my car sometimes it'll rev from about 1200 to about 2k and slowly work itself down and idle even when warm around 1100. I was just wondering what could be causing these things? I thought it would be one of the 2 in the title, just seeing what everyone thought. and if it is the IAC can i just take it off and clean it up real good and make sure the valve is free or do i have to buy a new one?
Thanks in advance

I adjusted my TPS from .55 to .45V. I had to turn the idle screw all the way down to get the idle to about 800 when its fully warm. Should I have to do that? And i looked for vacuum leaks and I didnt see any but that doesnt mean there isnt one. Ill have to wait til this weekend to really dig and look. Are there any common vac leak spots?

If the vacuum tubing is original (or more than 10 years old) all of it would be subject to leaks. Assuming your vacuum lines are stock rubber, the get old and brittle. So just by moving stuff around the engine bay you can cause one to break. Check the two big intake pipes for holes and the various vacuum lines running off of them. Also theres a few vacuum lines around the balance tube, check those out. Is your EGR valve still intact, or deleted?

Also, after adjusting your TPS, did you check your timing?

No i haven't checked my timing. And I looked at my hoses they look old but they're not too brittle. And my egr is intact
