Idle Compensator ?

What does the idle compensator that's on top of the carb do ? :confused:

It might adjust the closed point on the choke to keep enough air flow going in during cold starts.

Ok. I've been having some problems with my idle but I'm gonna try to eliminate some of that with the vaccum delete
