yup mines does the same. starts at just under 2k, when it wrams up it goes down to 1100 or 1200 and when i start driving its will stay between 700 and 1000.....or die

it could be your AAC valve. mounted on the back of your intake manifold.

my KA24E is doing the same thing... It will idle up to 2,000rpm cold, warm up and still stay at 1,300-1500rpm. If it idles for a very long time it will drop down to 1,100rpm. But never lower than 1,100rpms. If I'm speeding around and I'll put it in neutral; it will rev up to 2,000rpms and slowly drop to about 1,500rpm. Sometimes after running it hard it will even idle up and down at a red light between 2,000-1,300rpm. It's frustrating! Has anyone found a solution? Is it a vaccum leak, thermostat, IAC or ignition? Anyone have an oscilliscope to veiw ignition spark?

ok so i just had a huge 50 plus post on this. the problem with mine was the TPS its like 20-30 bucks to fix real simple. try it. i thought it was my iacv or my maf, but it wasn't so try the its really cheap to try if its not your not out any money and you ruled out something and you got a new healthy tps. but that was in my own situation which i sprayed injector/intake cleaner through and i hit my MAF which i thought is what messed up. but yeah anyway check out my post. EXTREMELY HIGH IDLE lots of usefull information.
