I have a 2001 Maxima with an erratic idle and code p0505. I plan on replacing the IAC valve and sending the ecm off to get it repaired. My #1 question is, has anyone had any luck (or issues) with an inexpensive eBay aftermarket IAC valve. From the dealer it is $350.00. From local part stores they are between $200.00 and $250.00. On eBay they can be had for $50.00.

My second question is, most ecm rebuilders are requiring the tps be changed and disconnecting the motor mounts before the ecm is hooked back up. I understand the rational behind unplugging the motor mounts, but changing the tps defies all logic. Those of you that had your ecm repaired, did you replace the tps also?

Courtesy Nissan sells the IACV for your car for about $241: http://www.courtesyparts.com/nissan/max ... ed-control

Thanks, but I went with an eBay part. Before I got around to changing the IAC valve and removing the ECM; the key somehow lost programing with the ecm. After talking to a rebuilder I was worried that the ecm had more damage than typical. I bought a used ECM and matching immobilzer control unit out of a wrecked maxima on eBay as well. Also did not replace the TPS.

6 or 7 months later, so far so good.
IAC valve $30
ECM and Immobilizer $100
Locksmith to reprogram keys $80

Make sure it is the idol and not the car's computer system.

Well done. How are the e-Bay IACV and ECM working out?

Just now seeing this question maxiiiboy, obviously I'm not very active on this site. Well actually I look on this site quite a bit, I just don't log on.

It has now been over 2 years and I have not had any issues with the cheap eBay IAC valve or used ECM. Maybe I just got lucky, but I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.
