After installing a injen cold air intake, is it normal to have to adjust the idle speed back down. It seems logical that my idle would increase after that install, i'm just curious what everyone else has experienced.

I installed AEM short ram not CAI but my idle was not affected by it... I dont see why your idle should change aftewards unless you have a leak somewhere

Hmm...probably a leak. I'm curious, can improper idle adjustment, cause my engine to run lean? I have soot around the area on the ground right where my exhaust exits, I was told this could be because of a rich condition

i dont think your CAI is going to affect your idle speed or fuel mixture by itself. if you had a vacuum leak then maybe that leak could affect the operation of some other sensor/selonoid.

i believe that the KA makes fuel adjustments based on o2 sensor readings. but then again there are a bunch of things that could cause it to run rich.

Thanks guys, I guess I'll start replacing the cheap stuff. I'll see what I can come up with. It's more irritating than a problem right now.

clean the plug on your maf...or for a temporary fix...just jiggle it around...you should notice the idle go steady again and the black smoke dissapear and the engine vibrations stop...if that doesnt work then it is prolly a leak or suttin but i had a dirty maf on my 240 and it actually started dying whenever i stopped at a light...it stopped when i wiggled it for 2 days or so then it started again so i just took it out cleaned it good and electrical taped that bizznatch together TIGHTLY.

Do you have an Intake air sensor on your car?

If that is not hooked up in the air flow, it could cause your idle to go wonky.

Also if you dropped or touched the inside element on you MAF, then you can also have this condition.
