My battery, antilock brakes and washer fluid lights all stay on after the car has started. I think the battery was disconnected a couple of days ago for some work cause my radio stations were lost. The next day the idiot lights staid on. I disconnected the battery again (reset computer?), but still have the problem. The car is a 91 M30.Thanks

M30 yuck. [sorry but I try to ignore these vehicles]. Check your alternator make sure you have 13.7 volts across battery when engine running.

Q45 Tech, that was harsh your'e bummin me out;) J/K I have this thing about drivin something different. I also drive a 95 Ford Lightning, most people don't even know Ford made a Lightning before the 99's. Sometimes being different is a PITA though.:( I work at Dobbins and live in Hiram. Where is the Infiniti dealer, there has to be one on Cobb Parkway. I need the cable that releases the seat back. I'll go check the alternator voltage and let ya know.

Thanks

Well, 12.5 volts at idle, not good. I blew the transmission cooler lines last week and fluid went everywhere. Could AT fluid got in the alternator? Would the alternator not puttin out also cause the ABS, brake and washer fluid light to stay on?

Is T3 just a repair shop or do they have accessories also? I have not been able to find anything on the internet. I work in Marietta but live in Hiram, about 20-30 minutes from Marietta. I was stationed here from 86-90 and loved it here so jumped at the chance to come back. Damn, traffic is a lot worse now. Hiram/Dallas used to be out in the sticks. Before long it will look like Marietta.

THanks guysDJ

Infiniti owners often drvie hundreds of miles to have tehir car worked on at T3.

(They are primarily repair, competent at doing most anythiugn including some popular mods, but they dont stock their own accessories short of key chains and such.)

A bad alternator causes all kinds of weird things. If you can pull it, take it to your local Pep Boys or Autozone for a free test. But don't buy what they try to sell you, unless it's a factory unit! Always go factory unless you plan to sell the car before the part warranty runs out.

How in the world did that happen!!??

I'd agree with the low voltage scenario - the Q uses the ABS and Brake Lights for low voltage warnings too...

How in the world have you missed the Marietta INFINITI DEALER SIGN directly across [well 100-150' North] from the main gate at Dobbins AFB on Cobb Parkway.........oh yeah you drive an M30,

Sorry couldn't resist!

"I work at Dobbins and live in Hiram. Where is the Infiniti dealer, there has to be one on Cobb Parkway" in NASCAR its all about turning left guess you always turn Right [south] out of main gate.

You should have spoke up earlier we just towed 2 M30 shells to the junkyard......got 4 Q presently and a G20 in the boneyard of death.....the latest one, Q has 280k so we know that's possible on the engine before it let go.

Q45Tech: You're a friggin riot (don't quit your day job):pface You obviously have the same sarcastic sense of humour I do. :D If you come across another M30 junker (don't say it) let me know. ."in NASCAR its all about turning left guess you always turn Right [south] out of main gate." Ya I get NASCAR. Go fast turn left, go fast turn left, go fast turn left, go fast turn left. Repeat 150 times. Actually I'm in the Navy, I go out the back gate onto Atlanta Road. I try not to A: wander through the wimpy Air Force pukes and B: not go on to Cobb Parkway unless I have to

Q451990: Whoever had it before replaced the lines with fuel line instead of hydraulic line. AT fluid went everywhere, all over the engine compartment. It was a mess. What a friggin cheap, dumb@#$

I took the alternator to get checked and it wasn't puttin out diddly

Glad you got it fixed, remember the alternator output doesnt tell the complete story when testing the alternator. The voltage and most important, >amperage< under a load is what I would test first. Next step would be to check the diode ripple, if you have a diode letting current feedback through the system, it can still charge perfect but some dash warning lights can stay on. Good diodes let the current flow in one direction, reverse that and you can get all kinds of strange elctrical issues! It works like the same scenario if you have a charging lamp bulb blown, the alternator won't charge, being that little bulb filament completes the circuit to energize the alternator. Amazing!:ylsuper
