Does anybody know whether the "A/T OIL TEMP" idiot light works on a 2WD R50? Has anybody even seen this light lit on their 4WD model? I put an LED bulb in its spot (there was not even a twist base there; I used the base from the "tire carrier open" light that's directly beneath it. With the ignition "ON" and parking brake engaged, the light does illuminate. I have not yet seen it light while driving, however.

What's involved in getting the "washer fluid low" idiot light to work? Apparently it only works for Canadian models, but US models ship with a twist base + bulb in its spot anyway! If I drive across the border, will it light up? :bigthumb: I removed that twist base, anyway. And do R50s even have tire carriers? I haven't seen one with a tire carrier ever, so what's the point of the "tire carrier open" light?

The "door open" warning light only lights up for the two rear passenger doors and the liftgate/glass hatch, and not for either of the front doors. Is that what's supposed to happen? Owner's manual says if any of the doors are open with the ignition "ON," it'll light.

The owner's manual and FSM say that if the windshield wiper lever is moved to the "wash" position to spray the nozzles, the wiper will also operate several times (in the same manner as the "wash" action for the rear wiper). This doesn't happen, even if I hold the lever in the "wash" position for several seconds. FSM states "This feature is controlled by the wiper amplifier in the same manner as the intermittent operation." (EL-156, 2001.5 FSM), but the intermittent wiper operation works, so it's not the wiper amplifier at fault probably. Anybody got a clue how to fix that?

Is the answer to my first two questions to verify whether the wires necessary for the two lights' operation actually exist in the respective wiring harnesses? Obviously the "A/T OIL TEMP" does have the necessary wiring, at least for the warning lamp itself, but where does it read this temperature from?

My light works for all doors including front. Maybe your door sensors are broken, do you get a beeping when your keys are in the ignition and the driver's door is open?

All lights are to flash on then off during start up so if you have AT temp it should light up. All doors chime when open , key on. Yes I have seen temp light working. Wash on 97 Q happens when front I pull the lever back with or without wiper movement and rear when I push the lever in then the wiper moves. Washer low light energizes when washer low, fill front reservoir feeds both front and rear. Low light on with about 3-4 squirts left.
The above relates to a 1997 QX4 and maybe other years and Pathy's are different. The first may be better than the rest 'cause in time they find ways to cheapen them up.

I took apart the two front door switches. The spring inside does not extend itself once the door is closed, so I need replacement door switches I guess. Looks like they're about $14, and I'll need another screw since my driver side's is rusting. Oh well, more nickel and diming. I'll try a junkyard first. What's the difference between the 25360 and 25360+A switches?

Does the "door open" light illuminate if the hood is open? I noticed there is also a hood switch, but is that only used by the anti-theft system? Also, if any of the rear doors are open with the ignition set to "ON", there is no warning chime. Perhaps that's related to my broken front door switches that make the smart entrance control unit think they're perpetually closed?

I looked for harness E42 which is apparently the sensor for the low washer fluid but was unable to find it. I'd think it would be there, just not connected for US models?

I will just have to see whether A/T OIL TEMP lights up eventually, but I'm not gonna go out of my way to try to get it to light by intentionally overheating my transmission.

My question regarding the wash action on the wipers was if the wipers operate automatically after pushing the lever towards yourself (i.e. spray the front nozzles), or if you must engage the wipers yourself.

I don't have those. My instrument cluster has the spots for them, but there's no overlay to actually have them visible. I wouldn't know how to troubleshoot your issue other than making sure all the bulbs are in working condition and actually present.

I fixed the door switches by getting a set from the junkyard from a pre-facelift R50. These required retrofitting, which consisted of swapping out the buttons (the older R50 has a button with 2 contacts due to its different wiring harness attachment, while mine had 4) and the harness attachment. I've never heard the car beep at me with a key in the ignition and the door open, or beep when the headlights are on with the driver door open and ignition is OFF/ACC. It's annoying, yet glorious. The fixed door switches also makes the alarm arm immediately once locked and closed via the door, instead of me having to arm it via the key fob (the car thought I had no front doors before, it seems).

Still having no luck finding harness E42 (washer level switch). Will have to try to take a closer look around the washer motors sometime.

Haven't seen A/T OIL TEMP light up when driving, either. I kind of want to see it light up to know whether it'll work on a 2WD R50, but I also don't want to overheat my transmission fluid!

Yep, not an option. The '95 and below had them (possibly an option or part of a package for certain years), and 2003 & 2004 had them too. Not sure about R51s.
