You need your sensor reset.tortriune1 wrote:I own a 2007 Versa Sedan, and I had a flat tire a while back and went to Discount Tire to have them patch it. So when I drove the car home the tire pressure sensor light went off. I thought maybe the pressure was off so I checked all four wheels, but everything was fine.
I pretty much know that the sensor is either messed up or not reading the new tire, so I called the dealership and they said to bring it in but it would cost $65 - $75 to have it looked at.
Is this normal? I should still be under warranty because it's an 07 and I only have like 31k on the car. So would it still cost to have this issue fixed? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Tell that to Firestone and Ford back in the '90s.BBISHOPPCM wrote:the manufacturer of the car specifies the tire pressure, not the tire itself.
Yea, I know it's the sensor. lol. The light flashes for a few seconds then stays on. I just don't want to pay the dealership 65 dollars when I could probably take it to my local mechanic and have him do it for cheaper. But should I have to pay an inspection of the problem if I'm still under warranty?BBISHOPPCM wrote:This issue comes up quite often. If the light is on steady (not flashing,) chances are, your sensors are working fine. Fill all tires to 40 PSI, drive until the light goes off, then lower then to the specification pressure (printed on the door jamb label). Forget about what ol' Rosco says at the gas station; the system is working, and the manufacturer of the car specifies the tire pressure, not the tire itself. Let us know what happens!!
i think the sensors themselves have to be resetMile High Versa wrote:Disconnect the battery, wait 5 minutes and reconnect the terminals. Try that and see if it resets the ECU.
