I just bought a 2004 Diamond Graphite coupe, and have a couple of questions. (of course, thought of them after I left the dealership)

First, the dealer told me that the (!) light is illuminated due to the tires. It has 20" rims. Is that possible?

There is a box next to the right side of the rear view mirror that says IDentity transponder. Is this an infiniti thing, or is that something that the previous owner put in? I can't find anything on the internet about it.

I have to find another key fob, owner's manual, and a front license plate bracket. Is there a place besides the dealership I should look at?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to NICO Heather.

I have no idea what the Identity Transponder is. It is not an Infiniti item that I am aware of. The exclamation (!) light that is on, is that on the instrument gauge cluster? It may be the tire pressure monitor if so.

I have a front license plate bracket that you can have. Send me an email or an AIM and I will mail it our to you. The dealer would be the best bet for the key fob.

I wouldnt get a keyfob from the dealer, get one on ebay..... Look for one with this FCC ID: KBRASTU15

Heres an ebay auction for a brand new one... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

Remote programming should only take a few seconds...

The identity transponder is probably the thing for the homelink garage door opener.....

Your light is most likely on because the new wheels dont have the pressure monitors...

You can download the owners manuals for free at http://www.infiniti-techinfo.com . That is, unless you want a hard copy. If you wnat a hard copy, youcan get one on ebay for like $50

Nice info Wes. Thanks. I've learned some new stuff today. However, I have the homelink on my car and there is nothing that says Identity Transponder. It is just a few buttons on the mirror.

Thanks for the help

I'm attaching a picture of the car. As you see, I think the tires are the problem with that pressure sensor...they certainly aren't the normal tires on this car. About the IDentity thing, I'm wondering if it isn't a Lojack type thing, although I can't find anything on it. The dealer wants $156.52 for a new key fob and there is one on ebay for $16. Guess I know where I'm going for that!

Do you have any photos of this identity transponder?

The tire pressure light will always remain on since you have different rims. The sensors are not on the tires with the rims in the picture, therefore it is reading that you have low tire pressure.

You are stuck with the light I am afraid.
