I plan on removing my cigarette lighter and replace that with a USB plug. Looking at the existing wires, they are 2 colors; one is blue and the other is a very light green or turquoise. Which one is positive and which one is negative?

do you have a multimeter/voltmeter? if so use the probes to touch the wires, if you have the positive probe on the positive wire and the negative probe to the negative wire it will show 12 volts, if reversed it will show -12 volts.

The FSM indicates the G/R (green/red) wire is positive and the B (black) wire is ground. Don't know why the colors you are seeing are different. If you have a volt meter, check each wire for voltage to a known ground source like any sheet metal piece behind the dashboard. Only one should measure a voltage. What 04pathse suggested will also work to find the positive wire.

Yep, the multi meter does it.

The cigarette lighter position is now a dedicated USB to my new Android Auto Head Unit. I've also created two high speed USB ports where that little "push-to-open" compartment is; in a 4-wheel drive, that's where you have the control dial to switch between 2 and 4-wheel drive, It even comes with a voltmeter readout. I picked that off Amazon and it looks nice. I'd post a pic but not sure of platform to use.

Here is an image of what I've done after identifying negative and positive wires;)

Is this the same Sony unit you're using?

Quick charge 3.0 in the drivetrain selector housing area - very nice.

Yes, that's the Sony I got installed. Since my truck is a 2WD it didn't have a drivetrain selection knob. It had a little coin compartment there, so I took that out and placed the fast charging port. And the cigarette lighter was replaced with a USB port which attaches my Android phone to the Sony head unit.

When you installed the sony, what did you use for the dash kit?
Or did you fabricate your own?

Looks like most QX4 kits are single DIN only.

I had a stereo shop do it, and you're right, all kits out there are for single din. They fabricated an adapter plate that went around the SONY'S frame, which wasn't perfect, but it got the job done.

Thanks a lot! Was going crazy trying to find a double din model.

If you don't mind, could you share the contact details for that shop?
I'm tired of trying to explain this concept to other shops and would rather just pay some pros to do it.
