I just purchased an '85 Nissan 720 Pickup King Cab and I'm trying to determine which "model" I have. :)

Does anybody know how to identify MPG models from Heavy Duty models? I also assume this means there is something in between (regular model)? I notice the service manuial pages suggest some of the componetns are only available in MPG or Heavy Duty models, such that the arrangement of engine components varies, depending on the model you have. I'm wondering if there is an easy way to identify which model I might have.

Thanks!

720 trucks that are classified as MPG models came with the Z20 engine. These engines ran a 9.4:1 compression ratio and also had a 5 pin ignition control module which integrated with the detonation control system. In the model code the letter J will be in the engine position and your model code will read out KJ720. Also, the best way to verify this would be to look at the silver under-hood build tag on the passenger side of the engine bay. Engine Will be Z20(S) and the axle code will be HF33.

The best way to identify the build of your truck is to read off the model codes on the understood silver plaque on the passenger side if the truck was built in Japan (all VINs starting with J) or the door jamb sticker if built in Smyrna TN. (all VINs starting with 1)

Hey, thanks for the replies. Ok, so I know I have a Z24(S) engine, but the rest of the digits are different.
On my build plate, it says "TYPE" is JNY720. "MODEL" says, KNLY720TUFI51. Also, it says the axle code is CA41. I also noticed the transfer case is divorced on this pickup. I've never seen that before either.

So, what would indicate a Heavy Duty" model in the build plate? I'm still not certain I understand that. :)
