is the exhaust manifold flange larger than the t25 one? measure the distance between the studsILOVESILVIA(S13) wrote:Here you go. Sorry about that

You could make or buy a manifold for that type of turbo.ILOVESILVIA(S13) wrote:Now, what the heck am i going to do with this Z31 turbo!! I guess i'll send it back to the guy when i get a hold of him.
Depending on what turbo you are coming from, intake pipe needs to be modified, hotpipe that goes from the turbo to the intercooler needs to be modified. Oil return line has to be redone (on mine at least). Housing needs to be clocked if you are using a stock manifold.ILOVESILVIA(S13) wrote:Well, i guess im stuck with this mystery turbo. Oh well, I got it for free basically. I guess i'll just keep it in a box until i find someone that might want to buy it.
On a side note, i was thinking about getting a T28 BB turbo after Christmas, do you guys suggest any mods i might have to do before doing this, or is it a simple bolt on affair. Im sure it has been covered before multiple times and i'll try searching but wanted to ask anyway while i have this post going.
Yeah, most of that stuff is good. I wouldn't pay $25 for that return hose though. You can get it just as easily from an auto parts store for about $2-3. Also, you still have to modify the hotpipe. You can use the turbo outlet piece from your existing turbo.ILOVESILVIA(S13) wrote:I was thinking about this set up i saw. Would this take care of most of the problems you talked about if i buy all the accesories that are listed?

Raise the compression. Lower the boost. Faster spool. An attempt at better/smoother overall performance than the previous years stock.float_6969 wrote:Wow, I just learned something new. I didn't know the Z31 ever had a T25 on it. WTF was Nissan thinking? A T25 on a 3L V6?
Exactly what Mitsubishi did with the DSM... 1st gens had 7.8:1 compression and a 14b turbo (~260-280whp capable) and then the 2nd gens had 8.5:1 compression and a T25 turbo (220whp on a good day).float_6969 wrote:This is totally not CA engine forum related, but I don't care.
So you're saying that the VG30E(T) had lower compression and a bigger turbo in the older Z31's and then higher compression and a smaller turbo in the later years to improve throttle response?
84-87 Z31 Turbo: VG30ET, CR 7.8:1, T3, 6.7psi, 200hp @ 5200, 227ft-lbs @ 360088-89 Z31 Turbo: VG30ET, CR 8.3:1, T25, 4.5psi, 205hp @ 5200, 227ft-lbs @ 3600float_6969 wrote:This is totally not CA engine forum related, but I don't care.
