Identify this sound. **video included**

My sr20det swapped 240 makes an odd tapping noise. YouTube - Sr20det redtop odd noise It is at it's loudest when the engine is cold, in 3rd+ gear between 2800-4000 rpm and with light acceleration. It isn't very loud at WOT. It seems that the sound is also louder in person than is the video.

This wasn't much of an issue until the cams were correctly timed. They were both off 1 tooth.

sounds like the chain hitting the top guides. take them off and see if it goes away.

that does sound like the chain guides, but if it is, thats not your underlying problem. the chain is hitting the guides because the chain is not being tensioned by the chain tensioner. you should look into fixing the tensioner or whatever use to keep the chain from hitting the guides.

my FJ made the same sound when the upper chain tensioner s*** the bed. It was a deeper manlier sound though befitting a proper double row chain.
