Was shorted, dunno how, car runs fine (aparently) runs fine with and without. I checked in the FSM but all point to be the dropping resistor. My car is a 1993 DOHC manual transmission (from factory)

Driver side of the carJust under the power steering reservoirIt is on the same wire loom as the ignition coil is.Was checking on the FSM and looking at the diagrams, it seems to be the dropping resistor (do manual cars have this too??) the thing is that is soldered (no connector was visible after the meltdown)The leads have power (12v) wether the ignition is on or off.Now the really baffling thing is that no code was generated, the car idles and runs fine without it, no apparetly effect on fuel consumption. But the why is the purpose of it??

if i remember, that wire loom has the aiv wires, power steering sensor (maybe hicas specific) and the air conditioner wires.

Finally, someone else that had this stupid thing go bad. Its called a "resistor/condensor". Its part of the ignition coil or distributor. My car did not run right once I pulled it out. The nissan guys are absolutely NO help when it comes to finding this part. You can buy just the one peice, or you can buy it with the female part also. Its about $10. If you need a part #, give me a shout at [email protected].
