Hey there, this is a fairly open-ended question, since there's so many parts manufacturers out there, but I'm fairly new to the scene of performance upgrades..So for anyone who knows their stuff, this is for you.

I'm not the richest guy in the world here, so I'm putting a budget of $2000 CDN, or about $1500 USD.

What would be the optimal upgrades to be spending that much money on to get the most juice out of it?

This is for a stock 5-speed '92 s13.

Thanks!BrettVictoria BC Canada

Fix what's broken first. Also, what do you want to do with your car? Have it fast for the 1/4? Drift turns like mad? Or are you building a grip monster? This would help in making your descision...

there isn't really anything to be fixed on it, luckily and I'm looking for a bit more kick, I guess. I've already got all the handling areas covered, but the stock 155 hp just doesn't kick it for me. Upgrades for under the hood are what I'm after.

Nitrous Oxide. Or if you know what your doing, you can have a custom (junk yard) turbo kit.

You said you wanted more power.........

The turbo is the way to go. If you start building the motor, 200 hp is getting it close to toping it out. And it cost a whole bunch more money than you want to spend.

Exhaust and CAI is a joke as far as making power. If you wanted to spend a little more money, I would say get a CA18DET but price is around $1800 plus cost of install.

fix and tune every minor detail. get the chip mod. better clutch. short throw shifter. call it a day. I've seen ka's do incredible things with just these mods.(shifter is a preference, not for more hp). if you want more, save up more money and get a different engine. it's cheaper than turbo'ing the motor and less of a pita.

you can get a wolf(wulf?) chip for the car, it advances the timing and such.

look the basics have to be taken out of the way first to make more power so Intake, header, and exhaust and if you have a little left over then go with and underdrive pulley.

Guys remember you have to crawl before you can walk so the basics is what he needs

2 bolts just loosen them don't remove on the distributor and turn it in either direction play with it to what feels more comfortable for you

Here's what I'd do: (usd btw)-KYB AGX struts about $400-RS*R Down springs $220-Cusco OS strut bars $300-Cusco f/r sway bars $450

Now since you've got your suspension down, go practice drifting! :)

horsepower is nothing if you cant move the car. id get some new suspension bits, bushings, rods assorted nuts and bolts. my suspension slush drives me nuts.

Since you've said that you're happy with your current suspension setup and you're looking for more kick, there are a couple of things you can do with $1500. Getting a lightened flywheel will dramatically change the way the car accelerates. Spend the rest of the cash on an intake, header, exhaust and then call it a day. You're done.

Jim Wolf can reprogram your ECU. I assume this is what you are talking about. :batman
