I need help with this, I have an 08 Altima Coupe w/ the Bose system; so I'm looking to upgrade the speakers and possibly add a sub eventually. My issue is that I want to keep the stock head unit because I like the way it all fits in and the bluetooth integration is great.

I have a couple of ideas on what to do, but I can't seem to find if anybody has been able to do what I'm thinking about doing.

I first need to know, are all the speakers wired into the same amp? If so...

1. Using the connector wires from the stock head unit that is plugged into the Bose amp, I basically turn that into my pre-out with an adapter (if that exists) 2. Install a 4 or 6 Channel amp (for now) and run all the speakers off of that.

Any information would be great.

If this is in the wrong section, could somebody move it...Thanks

So does Doc. Don't leave him out!

OP, you will need a line level converter. You want to connect this to the wires before they reach the Bose amplifier in the trunk. There have been a number of discussions on this, so search around this section to find them. It would be recommended to get some sort of a processor in there as the Bose system is heavily processed and you will need to somewhat undo that to get a flatter frequency response curve.

Personally, I would recommend a 4-channel for the interior speakers and a mono amp for the sub. This would be the ideal setup. However, if you want to conserve space, there are a number of decent 5 channel amps that have 4 powering the inside speakers and 1 more powerful channel for the sub. Off the top of my head, Alpine has one in their PDX line (PDX-5 I think?).
