Has anyone tried this? Or am i wasting my time & effort.
I'm putting a rebuilt motor into my 93 vert (daily driver) and wanted to install an oil pressure gauge without eliminating the factory switch & idiot light.
I'm not a fan of stringing together a bunch of adapters, and i didn't want to remove the fwd intake support to access the plugged port, so I decided to try something else.
On the top flat area of the oil filter mount near the factory pressure switch, there's plenty of room to install another fitting. So i drilled a 5/16 hole and tapped it with a 1/8-27 pipe tap (NPT). That's apparently a common tap as it was included in my very cheap tap & die kit (harbor frieght tools).
The npt fitting included with my gauge feed tube kit threaded in perfectly, and now i can run the tubing anywhere i need to for the pressure gauge. To start with, i'm just going to use it to make sure i get the oil pump primed and working before starting the engine for the first time.
I'll keep you posted.
