I'm the original owner of a 93 convertible. I've always wanted to do the 5 speed swap for this car.

So what if I purchased a S13 donor car and swap the manual into the convertible, then take the auto out of the convertible and swap it into the coupe. After that, I'll make the cpe a decent looking, running & driving car and sell it.

Anyone done that before?

Mike

IMHO - you are devaluing the donor car by approximately $500. Like a '92 S13 manual is worth maybe $2,500 and the exact same car with an auto is worth maybe $2,000. That's 20% of the value of the car, gone. Plus the effort to secure the donor car and the effort to unload it when you are done and the effort to do the swap yourself. I bought a '93 bone stock, 5 speed for only $2,200 three years ago and I wouldn't even have considered an auto, but that's just me. I think swap parts are about $500, and you can attempt to get a small amount back for the auto transmission and appurtenances, so why take all the extra loss and effort?

in the long run it wouldn't be worth it per say but if you could get a great deal on a doner car then it'd be worth it
