Had the motor in my '94 max gxe replaced about 2mths ago w/ a similar motor from a '93. I have had the check engine light on since then. ECU says it's the EGR temp sensor or circuit. I didn't like the overall quality of work the shady tree mechanic did so i dont want to go back to him to fix this. I briefly had another mechanic look at it and he couldn't find where the sensor would go on the EGR That is currently on there. Says either the car or the "new"engine is a california model. MY questions are where would the EGR temp sensor be installed, is in directly on the EGR?How should i fix this? Is the only solution to replace the ECU to one that doesn't look for that sensor?

Thanks.

Don't know about the first part but you should not switch out the ECU, I believe they plug in to the harness just to check for this with the new smog checks.

i dont have a pic for a max or a fsm. i will telly you that the egr temp sensor connector is a two terminal connector with one terminal missing. ther is one wire going to a sensor that threads into the intake manifold or egr plumbing somewhere. is this the sohc motor? if so it should be in the front on the drivers side(i think).
