Ok guys, I have a stock MKIV Supra IC that I am going to mount somewhere on my car. Three questions:1. Where should I mount it? (not front mount, it isnt pretty)

2. Where can I get piping? I cant find anywhere around me who can mandrel bend piping. Should I buy mandrel benct stuff off ebay or what?

3. Also, what size piping should I use?

Keep in mind my goal is 275-325whp. Thanks

~Ian

In the front, who cars how bad it looks...

or mount it under the lip of the car and make a small pickup with sheet metal***

If you dont get what I mean just ask and Ill make it clearer...

stick it in the front and get over it, paint it silver if you have to. If someone gives you flak about it ask them what they have then tell them to suck it.

You and I have discussed this already but I'm putting it up on here for the benefit of other members. You can buy mandrel bends from a wide variety of places and then use silicone clamps to put it together. You could also take it to a muffler shop and have them weld it up, make sure there are no leaks though, you would want a good shop that has someone who can weld really well.Anyway thats how my brother and I are both doing our front mounts. I can't see anywhere else to mount an IC on the 240. with a custom hood and electric fans you could do a lower tilt mount on the radiator and put the IC in the front of the engine bay, to take air in above the radiator and vent it out the hood.. but thats a lot of work. there was just a post on a similar setup on zivia.net but I don't have a link. I'm doing front mount, best air flow, easiest piping routing, etc.

^^you can get them all over the place if you look,

one place I remember off the top of my head is Spearco (Turbonetics) HKS, GReddy and many other places that sell turbos or turbo parts have silicone clamps, the problem is finding them cheap :D

get an electro fan, and mount the IC right behind the radiator that how alot of the brittish guys mount their frount mounts.. or hunt around for a starion core its more better looking bigger and more capable of that 275-325 number your looking at.. the MK4 isnt that efficent or bigg from what ive seen and heard.. my friend has a few sitting around out garage .

right now i am acutally considering selling the MKIV core and getting a nice big SPEARCO one. How much do those run for usually? then I wouldnt have to worry about the look of it. I kinda wanted to keep that sleeper style and mount it somewhere stealthy but i dont really know.

any input is appreciated.

Thanks~Ian

^^there's a price list on Turbonetics' website (they make SPEARCO intercoolers) they're actually pretty good for the price, IMO.

Silicone Connectors: http://www.turboneticsinc.com/....html

SPEARCO intercooler cores--Bottom of page: http://www.turboneticsinc.com/pricelist.html

I am picking up this one when the time comes to upgrade to a FMIC.

2-209 INTERCOOLER CORE - 3.0" X 7.12" X 18.5" $ 334.00

I figure it'll fit in the stock S13 K's front bumper well, fill in that little space under the license plate, and have good cooling for a mild 325hp. :D

oh, someone asked about the "silicone clamps."just an FYI:if you can find a place for thick wall silicone tubing, if you just cut it into like 2" or 3" lengths, you slip your pipe inside it and put clamps over each end. voila, "silicone clamp" as I call em. you can buy the tubing off ebay but its over priced.I'd look around stores by you to see what you can dig up.

^^I wouldn't suggest that for high boost applications, not that he is using them for a high boost application, but just saying I wouldn't use them for that.

Under higher boost, the home made clamps could blow off, some of the HKS and nicer ones are designed so they won't pop off under high boost, just letting everyone know,

yeah I'm planning on running low boost. if you bead roll the edges of your tubing the silicone and clamps work a lot better.if you are running high enough boost to make that an issue, I'd recommend have a competant muffler shop weld it.
