I have a few tech questions.. I cannot find it on all data.I need to find the IAT sensor whether its in the mas air flow sensor or not. I purchased a chip thing that lies to the comp about what temp the car is at. So it can produce more power and better Gas!! The wires coming from the Mass air flow are B, W, B/W. I do not want to hook this up wrong exspecially to the MAF sensor. The chip normally goes to Any IAT sensor and for the two wire. The chip has two wires coming from it they said one wire to each wire from the IAT. Does 93 Q45 even have one and how do I plug this thing in?

Thanks for any and all help.

Steven- I don't know the answer to your question but you need to go find shelter for the incoming missiles which have probably already been launched. Godspeed.

Sorry to be sarcastic but adding a chip to your IAC valve is not going to get a lot of favorable votes. I don't know the history of your ownership but have you done all the recommended maintenance to get the best mpg out of your Q. If your not getting 15mpg around town there's room for improvement. Take the NICO route first before you take a chance on some ebayer's wild promises.

The IAC valve is mounted on the backside of the plenum close to the firewall. It's a two wire connection. Good luck.

I am just testing this little chip thing they call it.. it is one wire going to a inline fuse and a diode.. So yeah it is probbably a bunch of crap but I am checking. If it actually works! then I will put a post up stating my opinion on it.. Also if it does not I will post it is crap and try to expose them as much as possible. It is just a 8$ trial.. Thanks for your Help! I hope you are wrong though about the chip thing.

Don't you dare put that chip on your car, you are trading years off of your car for fuel mileage. . I would burn it immeadiatly if it was me.

IAT = Intake Air Temperature sensor. Your car doesn't have one... Just toss that thing in the trash. The idea is to fool the ECU to think it's hotter outside so that the car will run leaner... in any case there's no sensor to hack in the 93 Q.

OK, dump the chip, download and read the 1994 FSM and TSB, then read alll posts by Q45tech.

Your car and pocket book will love you for it.

The ecu uses a combination of coolant temp, AC outside air temp sensor, AC on signal and MAF vs rpm vs tps to create a psuedo IAT guesstimate.

IAT is primarily an OBD2 requirement as each other sensor requires at least one back up sensor to triple check the other sensors function.

In the case of 90-95Q the MAF is way more heavily weighted in the equation to develop the injector pulse width.

This works well because being too rich is much much less power robbing [and engine safe] than being too lean by a factor of almost 2.5 to 1.

We see the proof of this in the NICO and other ecu reprograms where power output is increased only ~~10% in leaning from 10.3 AF to 12 AF [ leaner by 17%] at WOT.

At cruise the O2 must be fresh and tight switching since they are the only sensor with no backup unless they get beyond +- 20% in error when ecu reverts to blending in preprogrammed injector values.

a lot of the power comes from adding timing too, which that doesnt do..

I say file that chip in the cylindrical filing cabinet.... apparently you didnt believe me via email?

Even our EL CHEAP O NICO ECU's which give you guaranteed safe power are too expensive?

Well, there goes the Vortex Turbonator too and the fuel line magnets and the funny little pills to turn water into gasoline.
