This may sound really dumb but i was reading on the IAP website that the stage 1 kit comes with your choice of a new fuel pump or fmu. my question is how can you boost using just a fuel pump with out any fuel management? i understand how fuel management and all that, i guess my question also leads to if you get the fuel pump as the option then you need to get a SAFC, retuned ecu, or something along those lines right? just wanting to make sure i am not missing something

upgrading the fuel pump will do two things. it will increase flow (the volume of fuel going to the fuel rail) and as a side effect of that increase fuel pressure a tiny bit.

If you are keeping the boost below 8Psig or so (depending on engine) The ecu should be competent in adjusting your fuel trim to compensate.

I've been running w/ just a Walbro 255 w/ my IAP kit for about 2 months now with no problems. boosting around 8.5psig.

keep in mind the ECU will RECOGNIZE the increase in airflow. the 260cc injectors seem to be capable of handling the demand up to 7 or 8 psig. it's just past that they can't flow enough. dont forget that the stock ECU is still trying to compensate

can you comment how the install and fitment went for your IAP kit?

i'm running SOHC but I would basically agree. I'm super critical and there were a couple of things not addressed in the installation manual but that was a couple of months ago and everything that wasn't covered in writing was addressed by marc over the phone. He did mention that he was updating the instruction manual and it looks alot better according to the stage1 manual on his site.

my hardest part I would rate at removing my oil pan and that only took me about 1/2 an hour to pull. my cold pipe didn't quite meet up with my throttle body but that itself is in a different location on the SOHC (slightly higher I believe) than the DOHC. Marc thought my intercooler was installed upside down but a short trip to home depot/O'Reileys remedied the problem. Other than that my >ONLY< gripe was having to hack my driver's side wheel well. I felt the hot-pipe could have been routed like the Stock SR hotpipe THROUGH the hole that is already there. the position of the turbo with the top mount manifold makes that comment debatable though.

aside from my nit-picks the kit went together extremely well and i didnt have any other fitment issues. marc was extrememly responsive and professional and i'd buy it again if i had to do it over... only this time i would have waited until he became our sponsor and saved myself the extra $ i spend on the kit and the blow off valve (and the BRM exhaust lmao)

Yea I ended up taking off way too much of my fender-well.Good thign I can get some sheet metal and fix it I have had a nightmare with fittign the ic to the cold side pipe.I was probably doing something wrong.... Been running 500miles and no couplers have popped yet. IC is off centered because I'm lazy..So ricers think it's APC fake one....until they hear the open wastegate...

When we did my kit. We didn;t even cut the fenderwell. we found out a new and better way to run the intercooler piping.

yep.. minimal trimming to the stock airbox hole. just took out alittle bit.. yep, thsoe are stock intercooling pipes from IAP. We jsut had to make like a 2.5 inch long... to connect the lower intercooler piping to the piping coming off the turbo.

yea this way was way better

first bend of the hot pipe kinda sits on the strut tower (we put some rubber behind it snugly), and like geo mention we jsut got a $4 straight 2" ID pipe and cut off about 4" to connect the hot pipes together (had couplings sitting around for it).

we opened up the air box hole about 1-2" towards the strut tower, like mentioned it was hardly anything

Hey Geo... is this hose that is being run the BOV recirculation???

Also I wanted to ask if you or someone else could maybe post a picture of the return line that sits on top of the turbo. My IAP kit didn't come with a flange that goes up there. ( I don't think). I just have a gasket that fits up there, I was wondering what I need to get to hook that up. Thanks for the help

So your saying you just put that gasket there and screw the gold elbow in. Then have bolts holding the gasket down??? for some reason that doesn't sound right. Why would they include a gasket when you just need to screw it in. In that matter I wouldn't even need to put bolts down. ????

wait...so did you mean you did put the gasket down?? Or you just screwed in the gold elbow fitting??

If you get a chance that would be great if you could post a pic of it up close so I get the mental image picture Thanks
