How many ppl are running the IAP stage 1 kit with no additional fuel management other than the Walbro??

cuz everyone has been saying you need to get bigger injectors and a tuned ecu to run a turbo safely on our motors but the IAP kit doesnt come with any of that....

are they an acception to the rule?

The IAP kit only uses Walbro and 370's.

Since it's a low-boost application, it shouldn't need much more than that.

However, you may want to check out AMS Performance - Talk to Ivan.. their fuel system is TOP-NOTCH.

ya, 370cc injectors are good but they only last till about 260-270hp and I'd add an afc to the mix if I were you but that's about it. Geo runs a IAP stage 1 kit with 370's so check out his cardomain if you want an idea.

I re read the post...sorry if I didnt answer your question.

you have the option of the FMU or the Walbro pump....which doesnt make any sense to me....i called them and talked to them and he said that the Walbro they give out with the kit net 7psi more fuel pressure allowing the motor to boost without any other management...which i find hard to believe but it must be working cuz i havent heard anything bad about the IAP stage 1 kit from anyone

well u can run a measely 6 psi with the stock pump but u definitely need the fmu. only other way of doing it would be to have the walbro pump and an fpr so that the a/f's would be safe.

um the home made kits u speak of are "custom" so in a sense, u determine whats in it. every ka-t i know runs larger injectors than stock, but not all run an aftermarket fuel pump. depends on ur boost levels and goals.

this is not the question im asking....i have 370cc injectors, walbro and an SAFC....my question is, how doe IAP get away with running just a walbro with their stage 1 kit and not run lean??

when i get my wideband im puttin my stock injectors back in with just the walbro and seeing what kind of A/F ratios im getting

I bought the kit with a Walbro and got my own 8:1 FMU.

When trying the kit briefly at 5 PSI with just the fuel pump, there were indeed lean spots (on a narrowband A/F gauge..). Plug & play'd the FMU and it ran full rich, ALL the way through (again on a narrowband).

They told me it'd run rich to redline with JUST the Walbro fuel pump as fuel management...

so there were lean spots at 5psi?? cuz when i talked to the guy from IAP he said their stage 1 kit should run rich up to 7psi...so i would call them up and let them know that their kit needs more fuel managemetn

I wanted to tell them the same thing, but I gave up trying to keep in touch. If you can, or if they're around again, you def. should!
