There is a problem, I have no idea how to bolt up the return oil flange to the bottom of the turbo. It seems that IAP forgot to give me the bolts. In their instructions it doesn't even say to use bolts just to silicone it to the turbo and use that gasket. Even though there is no pressure in that line I think they are crazy if they dont want you to use any bolts. I mean why in the hell would they be openings in there for with threads. Now anybody know what size goes in there? Cause I tried a bunch of differnt 10mm screws and nothing goes. Here is a pic to help you guys see what it is little red squares mark the area.

I got their bolts but I guess I put the wrong flanges on....For some reason I think it may be a domestic bolt. You are suppose to use the silicone on the oil pan.

Because when you press it against the mating surface, the silicone squeezes out and chokes off the drain hole. BOOO!

DO NOT SILICONE THE DRAIN FLANGE ON! Not only will it clog up the line, but the severe vibration of the engine/turbo will work it loose, and you can destroy your motor from oil starvation. What the hell is IAP thinking?Anyway the bolts are easily gotten from ACE or any other hardware store. I recommend hex-cap for clearance issues, but that's just me.-Jeff

Yeh, I made that mistake the first time I did it... well someone did, but they will remian aynomious ( sp? ) .. anyway, it blocked off the oil return line and I got the nice clouds of blue smoke.. lol... was bad... but second time around.. we put the flang eon.. got it real tight witht eh bolts.. and then stuck RTV around the whole outside.. to seal everything up... Maybe get it welded int eh springtime.

Do the instructions seriously say to silicone that flange on instead of bolting it??????

This is what the instructions say:

Step 17:

Mount turbo to manifold with Copper form-a-gasket included, mount wastegate to flange on manifold, be sure to place gasket between each item (included). Mount oil return ‘nipple’ to bottom of turbo, using gasket and some supplied silicone gasket material from oil flange installation. The bolts on the turbo housing can be loosened to adjust the output of the turbo. It should point toward the ground.

I had my flange welded on. Had the hole drilled. Put silcone on the oil pan and welded the flange. It shifted a little bit so i just put the drill bit back through the hole.

Yeah I agree with Structure-- the instructions dont explicitly say to use bolts but comeon guys! Mount = fasten as securely as possible. I cant believe anyone would think to really just secure that flange on there with sticky silicone only lol.

Yeah but like I said, I don't have any bolts that fit there at all. So thats the only assumption I could make.

I guess they forgot to give them to you or something... Just bring your turbo to your local hardware store and find some that fit. Dont forget to use lock washers.

For future reference, NOTHING should ever ever ever be "secured" with only silicone! NOTHING! lol

Well I didn't secure anything with just silicone. I call IAP and they finaly picked up the phone and the bolts that were supposed to go there were 8mm except that my turbo was put together with both metric and standard bolts apparently which sucks big floppy donkey pen15. Now I finaly got the right bolts which are 3/8". Moving on......
