Im installing my IAP stage 1 kit on my car and been having a few problems figuring things out.

i read a few things about it and saw that rather than cutting all that fender wall away like IAP suggests in the instructions on the hotpipe side, its easier to just clock the turbo pointing straight out away from the engine and just adding a small piece of pipe to make the joint between the two pipes. this seems to make sense although i haven't trimmed thing enough to actually try it.

what i dont understand is the cold side. as far as i can figure out the sort of S shaped piece is what goes into the tb and the remaining piece below. the problem is, when i attach everything, where it is supposed to connect to the IC on the cold side, the pipe is pointing outwards on a fairly large angle which wont allow a proper connection at all.

any pics of installed IAP IC piping would be great. im so confused. not to mention there are no brackets supplied to mount the IC like it says there should be so any pics of those would be good aswell so i can fab some myself.;

ya that looks about right. although you have an s14 so things fit a little nicer already since they are slightly longer. however, do you have any close up or more detailed photos of your IC route? cold pipe side aswell?

-thanks

I thought the IAP kit didn't require cutting?

As quoted from IAP Stage 1 Turbo Kit installation instructions:

"Step 7:

Using a Sawzall or another type of reciprocating saw and a good metal blade, trim out a section of the driver’s side fender well to allow room for the intercooler piping and air cleaner installation"

GE0 luckily thought of a better way to route the pipes which requires significantly less cutting but still a little bit. Basically you are just opening up the stock hole for the intake resonator so the pipe will bit through on an angle.

Decline - I have an S13 and did EXACTLY what you're talking about. I only cut maybe 1/2" out of that hole.

Mark has advised he will be adding some length to that piece for future kits so they can be run that way.

I can walk you through the rest of the fitment if necessary, call me at 602-828-8908.

Yes the angle is horrible.Hence why my IC is off-centered. ALthough geo's lined up nicely. However a 2inch puiece of pipe and another coupler will fix the problem. However, maybe I lined something up wrong...Feel free to call me 386-747-9982

Man I just got all the bolts off the manifold, and now I have to attempt the EGR, I have no idea wtf to do about that. So Im temporarly skipping to the oil feed line to the turbo and the oil line from the turbo back into the pan. **** I thought 2 days was enough.....maybe not. Greg I might be calling yo a s s for help. Oh yeah and wheres my exhaust!

I took some pictures of where im at with the piping

as you can see in the second pic, the pipe is comming out on way too much of an angle to mount to the IC and make a proper seal. and as you can see from the first pic, im already wedged between the frame rail and the cross piece so i cant turn that pipe to give me a better angle. oh me oh my.

yep.I'm fixing that tonight or tomorrow. I found a coupler at the junkyard.and buying a piece of pipe and hacksawing it to length. Only issue is that my hose clamp is turned the wrong way and I don't feel like removing the bumper again.

the question is, others seem to have gotten their kits to fit fine on their cars. why is it that we are having this problem. i feel like its right in front of me but i dont see it. unfortunatly, i was more busy than i thought today and didn't get a chance to call greg and get his take on all this since his seems to be fine.

pictures would be awesome anyone who has gotten it to work. also any info on how you mounted your IC would be super since i dont have any brackets.

I have an IAP manifold, turbo oil lines, and intercooler and piping. None of it fit correctly, i had to modify one hot pipe, one cold pipe, the downpipe and the wastegate pipe on the manifold.

For that one ur ??? about. I extended the side that goes to the S shaped pipe. I forgot how much but i did, i also cut a small notch out of that lip on the unibody. Good luck.~Sam

I'll get my pics up tonight of my fitment. I went to autozone and bought 2ft section of exhaust resonator. Found a coupler at a junkyard. So I'm goign to fixt the IC alignment. However I got to drop the bumper again so I can manuever.
