got this from here

http://www.digitalcorvettes.co...40770

E10-10% Ethanol/90% gasoline has a 14.00:1 air to fuel ratio. Using E10 in a gasoline stoich motor makes the EGT 30C hotter, and is one of the reasons GM has a COTP circuit in the ECM to add fuel when the cats get too hot. More wasted gas and more pollution.

well thats cool but this guy is selling pistons that raise your compression up to 14:1. thats a huge increase for just a piston, i am not sure the design of the piston would work with the added mass and height of the piston, you would have to worry about balance and hitting the valves. on top of that it would be difficult to run them with out detonation unless you are using a high octane level. and the fact no one has ever talked about bumping up to this high of a compression leaves me to believe that it is total crap.

Not that un-common in the Honduh nation b/c of all the R&D. Piston technology has been around to help promote 'swirl' of the air fuel mix which helps make a more complete burn, thus you gain mechanical octane by increasing the accuracy (timing) of the burn.

I don't find this impossible to believe. If you look closely you will see the valve reliefs (something factory pistons do not have), which means either this piston is meant to be run with some gnarly cams, or it's high compression, maybe both. You're right about the fuel, though, I definitely wouldn't run those on pure pump gas, and I wouldn't go to the trouble of running alternate/mixed fuels on an N/A motor. But that doesn't mean no one else would. I could see them being real.

Those are properly designed high compression pistons for the ka24de. Those valve reliefs should provide ample clearance up to around .450" lift.

At a glance, I would agree with the qouted compression ratio.

at a glance ya but i still dont believe it because we have a lot of good talent in here and nobody has ever made mention of getting a custom set of pistons made to bump up to 14:1, hell i havent even seen any newbies talk like that.devious- you're one of our resident experts, what do you think would entail upping the comp to that ratio

Custom forged pistons are used quite often, you dont hear about them much on here because the majority of KA tuners are building semi-daily driven cars.

14:1 would be useful in a purpose built NA ka24de, race gas and power tuning.

btw, Wiseco offers a similar set of high compression ka24de pistons as well.

if i had the money i would in a heart beat. i love naturally aspirated engines, i have been studying f-1 cars for years now and am actually going back to school to ry getting on a design team, by the way the video was awesome!

by the way devious... when are you going to get some custom ka24de parts for sale on your site?

I have massive time restraints lately as far as general R&D, I have to prioritize and priorities are elsewhere at the moment. Many of the components that I make/use are proprietary, and offer little for the general NA 2.4l ka24de. Rather, they are important for the long term plans.

Things will changing as time goes along, keep your eyes open.

What sort of power is that good for, I would guess about 230Hp or so.

For Shizzle(ditto that for me)......Will you ever get a hold of titanium retainers and springs for the DE?Whats up with some raised dish pistons as well, like the super techs or the wiseco's?You offer such a good deal for the solid lifters for the E, when will there be some parts for the DE?You should even sell some ECU tunes while you are at it, your pretty much the man to talk too.......HybridKA defenitely needs to increase there parts list........

Why in the world would you call BS on 14:1 pistons? That's pretty common in purpose built race cars.
