I have a 1993 240sx manual.

I was unscrewing the the FICD solenoid and some things fell out under the car. I looked under and picked up the thin washer and 2 springs. Now this is the confusing part, because after reading through the tutorial on IACV cleaning I only see 1 spring mentioned. I picked up 2 springs under the car. One spring is the slim silver spring that I see in the tutorial and the other is half the length of the silver spring and is wider in diameter. Also the shorter spring is much stronger than the other when trying to compress it. Both springs fit perfectly into the FICD solenoid.

So is there supposed to one or two springs for the FICD? If there is only one, then by coincidence there was another spring lying under the car when I went to pick up things that fell out.

I have an '89 240SX. I had the AAC valve off the car this past week to clean. While the unit on my car is somewhat different from the unit pictured in the tutorial, the FICD solenoid only had one spring in it. You may have found some random spring laying on the ground.
