How does one get the IACV to where it can be cleaned? Sprayed hella carb cleaner down the metal tube, but it didn't clean it completely.

Someone on Fresh Alloy suggested removing the EGR (not a problem because my EGR tube is cut/capped at both ends) then undoing the three accessible bolts, twisting the IACV upwards, and spray it down. Welp, I removed the EGR and undid those three bolts, but I couldn't move the damn thing at all. Anyone have any advice for a weekend mechanic like myself?

take a screw driver or punch and place it somewhere on top of the valve's body and smack the end of it with a hammer. the idea here is to jar it so it will break the seal on the gasket. this in many cases will also save the gasket instead of tearing it when you pry on it. this is assuming there is not another screw holding it down. if your jar it good and it still doesent move i suspect there is another screw. you also need to undo the hose to it too. I cant picture your set up in my head but i do know the location in the intake sucks for this component. That much i do remember

There are four screws, but I'm only undoing three, un order to turn the unti upwards so I can spray it down with carb cleaner.

The metal tube from the EGR unit to the exhaust manifold is cut in two sections, at each end, with middle portion removed:

EGR ---|-----------------|--- Exh. Manifold each "|" represents where I cut the tube and capped it.

The EGR control solenoid valve is also removed.

I'll try again today.....
