First of all- I searched. I've looked on every nissan forum I know of and cannot find the info I need. I'm new to this forum, but not a noob! About a week ago my car started having idling problems. I would start it and it would shut off, and would do this repeatedly unless I got on the throttle a little to keep it running. After a few seconds, when the motor warmed up a little, it idled fine. I did some searching online and decided to clean out my IACV. I cleaned it out with throttle body cleaner, put it back on, and now the car idles MUCH worse. I tried the adjusting screw but it didn't help. Before it idled when it was warm, now it barely idles. I adjusted the idle via the nuts on the throttle cable quadrant and now the car idles high enough to drive, but it's nowhere near smooth. It idles like it has a HUGE cam in it. Any suggestions? I'm in a bit of a situation here and need to get this fixed ASAP. Thanks!

just replace the damn thing... I don't know how much it cost or where it is but it did the exact same thing on my b18b1... only cost me 10$ to replace.... from a junk yard

How'd you clean it out? It may be that there's more gunk in there than you know of and is just clogging the thing open. My suggestion is to give it another try, or check out some of the guys/gals that are parting out and pick one up from them. Which KA is this for? If I recall, they're pretty expensive via dealership. If you need one for the KA24E, I've got one in my parts bin and have no use for it. let me know if you want it.

I own a 96 240SX. Checking generic brands from autozone, advance auto parts, etc..they range from $144-200 (yikes). I took the thing off the lines and out of the car and drowned it in carb cleaner. I believe it was a fairly thorough cleaning job. One port was almost completely filled with residue. I didn't want to think for the worst and hoped it was just a loose vacuum line or something. I'm still getting the same CEL code 25 (the IACV is a main culprit of this code, right?). Like I said in the original post, when I would crank up my car, it would immediately drop in RPMs and die. However, if i gave it a little throtte (holding no more than 1500 RPMs) with a length of 2-5 seconds, the car would run totally fine. No drops in RPMs, smooth idle. I was just worried about the initial start up. I might have to buy a new one and I did consider going to a junkyard but if mine crapped out, this experience has made me kind of hesitant to try a used one. So, should I just replace the frigging thing?

The idle fluctuates between 400-1200 RPM. I checked other culprits (fuel injector, MAF sensor, spark plug, etc.) anything I would hope would've been an easy fix but...yikes. Thanks. Anymore suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

PS, I've check my error codes about 4 times now because of other reasons (I just installed a version 1 Hotshot header and the damn O2 sensor...) Most of the codes have gone away except for error code 25 (due to IACV), but everytime there comes up a handful of other codes. I checked but some of the codes aren't matching. Anyone know what the following codes mean for a 96 KA 5spd?

Did you check the resistance of the IACV? Make sure it's whithin spec, otherwise you'll need a new one. Also, did you re-use the gasket or use new gasket maker? What are the vacuum readings?
