I am still having Very High Idle problems with my 90. When I come to a stop it drops down to 500 RPM's and then climbs slowly to 1500 RPM's and will not come down. Also when I start the car it starts and 1500 RPM's and does not drop when it is warm.

I took my IACV off and posted that I did not see the brass screw with Epoxy to remove and clean. I thought it was the large screw in the back and felt like an idiot because I thought that was the brass screw that needed to be cleaned. Well I took the thing off today & I was right about not having that screw. Look at the pictures and check it out.

What should I do if I cannot clean it? I really do not want to spend $170 and the new part does not work. I saw in another post to check the Air Regulator but the hose is so hard I cannot squeeze it. I did unplug it and that did not change the idle.

My car went from getting 20/28 MPG and now getting 14 city because I am wasting so much gas at lights.

Nice pics. Your IACV is definitely different from the 91-94 iacv. You dont have the brass screw.

If your idle falls to 500, that probably implies your air regulator is not stuck open. If I recall, you said your idle is fine when you are coasting? Your idle only goes up when car is stationary. That is probably the key to the puzzle.

Yeah I know it came off my car. People were saying to take the epoxy off the brass screw and remove & clean the screw. I thought they were talking about the sohc but now I know they were talking about the iacv on a 91. Can I use a 91 iacv on my sohc?

And yes vancouverbc I said your idle is fine when you are coasting? Your idle only goes up when car is stationary. That is probably the key to the puzzle. But that is a puzzle I cannot figure out. It is really not fine when coasting just lower. When I push in my clutch and coast it drops sometimes down to 400-500 RPM's and will stay that low and then when I come to a stop it starts to climb to it hits 1500 RPM. Also when I first start the car it will sit at 1500 RPM's and not go down. That is why I tried to clean the IACV.

Could I be stuck in high idle mode? I live in New Orleans and it is still in the 70's so I do not know if that could be possible. Can I check anything about that and also I took my TPS off to clean and never adjusted it with a volt meter. I need to search for a post on that. I did see one but it was hard to understand. I know how to use a volt meter, but I was not sure where I should check the voltage. On the harness, on the sensor, should the sensor be pluged in and checking through the wires or on the pins of the sensor. I know it should be 0.45-0.55 but not sure where toget that reading.

Sorry I changed the subject in my own post. I know people get pissed when this happens.

Will mess with it more in a few hours. I know I have a factory manual just need to find it. THANKS FOR THE HELP!

Test to see if you aac solenoid works by hooking it up to 12v dc source.I tried getting specific answers to my idle problems but never got proper answers so I fixed it myself.

tha 91 iacv looks exactly the same. only the bottom where that tube is straight on a sohc. and doch has a bend to it. irc
