Hey guys, I have a 90 SE, KA24E that has/had an idle issue. It started after I took a long drive on the NJ Parkway, cruising probably between 70-80. Once I got back in my area and hit a toll booth, I was idling @ 2k. Once I got home I let the car sit a bit and cool down. It then was idling @ 1,500. I left it for about two weeks, because a new IAC is $170 (mind you that's shop cost).

We were slow at work one day and pulled my car in at the end of the day. For one, I couldn't get any signal out of my IAC (Using a Snap-On Vantage Pro). I had Ign (+) which was 14.5v and the Vantage had me testing the neg connection, which I found odd unless the IAC is ground controlled.

Anyway I unplugged the IAC, car dropped to its normal idle around 900...plug it in 1,500. The car runs fine with the IAC unplugged and holds an idle fine. I've been driving around for about a week like that and the day after I unplugged it, we had a cold morning. I thought it wasn't gonna hold or stumble, but it was fine. Im not complaining, but I am confused as to how it's even holding idle without the IAC...any thoughts?

Thanks, nice to see other people aren't running an IAC also. I still havent had any problems with it and it's getting progessively colder out, so I'll just run it till it acts up again, with hopes that it won't

It just confuses me since other cars NEED an IAC to run...good ol Nissans
